Biography
Barbara is a Cooperating Patent Attorney based in the Munich area.
She is a highly versatile Patent, Trademark, and Design Attorney with two decades of experience in the profession. Fully qualified as both a German and a European Patent Attorney, she bridges complex science and international legal strategy. Her extensive technical portfolio covers material science, polymer technology, metallurgy, and ceramics, as well as heavy industries such as coke oven and steel making technology. In addition, Barbara offers profound expertise in formulation chemistry, advising clients on intellectual property and patent matters relating to electrochemical devices, inks, paints, coatings, detergents, and cosmetics.
Barbara’s professional journey began at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, where she completed her academic studies in Chemistry in 2000, with a focus on inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. Remaining at the forefront of scientific innovation, she then took on a role as a Research Assistant at the university’s Professorship for Material Science, Glass and Ceramics. During this academic tenure, Barbara drove key industrial collaboration projects focused on green energy solutions, specifically the development of next-generation anode materials for both solid oxide fuel cells and photovoltaic cells.
Building on her research background and moving into industrial application, Barbara subsequently joined a medium-sized company manufacturing writing utensils and cosmetics as a Laboratory Manager and Developer. Her core responsibilities centred on the intricate formulation of pigmented dispersions and emulsions, together with the rigorous analysis of the physical and chemical stability of writing utensils and cosmetic products.
Driven by a passion for protecting such technological advancements, Barbara pivoted into intellectual property law back in 2006. This transition was marked by intensive patent attorney candidate training and education at some of the most prestigious judicial bodies in Germany, including the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Federal Patent Court, and the District Court of Munich.
