Biography

Jean joined the firm in 1994 after having obtained a university degree in applied physics from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Jean passed the European Qualification Examination in 1998 and is admitted to practice before the European Patent Office (EPO), the Luxembourg Patent Office (LPO), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Benelux Trademark and Design Office (BOIP). Jean is also registered with the French Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) and with the Belgium Patent Office (OPRI).

During his early years in the firm, Jean has gained extensive knowledge in all kinds of equipment and processes related to iron and steel production and machining, including blast furnace equipment and electric arc furnaces. Later, he has specialized in all kinds of sensing equipment and procedures, computer science, information technology and communication technology.

Jean currently mainly deals with patents and patent applications relating to a broad range of technical fields, including mechanics, electronics and physics. He is also regularly involved in opposition proceedings before different national and regional patent offices.

Between March 2008 and March 2017, Jean represented Luxembourg as an elected member of the Council of the European Patent Institute EPI.
